I’ve been asked, by a triathlete friend, if I could recommend a Smoothie, that she could take after her lunch time workout.
The one below is really easy to make and it contains all the necessary, post workout, ingredients: protein; carbohydrates; and water. It can also be made, up to 48 hours, in advance and stored in an air tight container in the fridge. Just give it a shake before you drink it.
INGREDIENTS – for two helpings
1 cup of frozen spinach
1 cup of water – it’s better if you use unsweetened coconut water but, even, tap water will do
1 cup of orange juice (unsweetened)
1 cup roughly chopped pineapple – or pineapple juice
1 cup (frozen) blueberries* 1 tablespoon seseame seeds 1 tablespoons flax seeds
- I store my blueberries in the freezer, they last much longer. I also slice and then freeze my bananas too. for the same reason. Of course you can use fresh ingredients too but there’s no need to.
You can either include the seeds in with all the other ingredients and simply blend together until smooth, or you can choose to sprinkle them on top, just before serving.
