Not so much running lately, as I decided to give into the pain and the tightness in my right leg a rest, for a few days, and dust down the camera instead.
I popped along to the Great Run Local at Glasgow Quays on Wednesday night for the weekly, free, 5k and 2k races.
It was a beautiful, autumnal evening when Emma O’Rourke and her small team of volunteers set the runners on their way along the Broomilaw, at 6:30pm.
Twenty nine runners took part in the 5k, with Cambuslang’s Shaz Hakeem shooting off right from the Start and, with little competition, completed the 5k in a great time of 17:39.
Some forty seconds ahead of runner up Alex Osborne (18:19), who overtook Simon Gold in the final strait, after a long and sustained challenge. Simon placed third, with a time 18:25.
In the women’s event, it was Bellahouston Harrier, Sarah Munn to the fore. Winning in a time of 20:17 and getting ever closer to that sub 20 min goal.
Marie Doherty placed second with a time of 22:43 and Mags Hutchison, smashing her course best by some 19 seconds, earning third with a time of 23:09.
